    Raleigh Little Theatre is the cornerstone of the theatrical arts here in Raleigh. With a history stretching back to 1936, it has been providing laughs and provoking tears ever since. Performances go on all year round, but the height of the season is in the spring. 

  • Carolina Hurricanes – 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27607
    The PNC Arena in beautiful downtown Raleigh is the home of the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are Raleigh's pro ice hockey team and play in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. The team launched another pulse-pounding season in January, and a lot of action is still to come: There will be six home games in February and an amazing eight in March before things slow down to three for the finisher in April.

    Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade is a day to celebrate the area's residents of Irish heritage and all of the great contributions they've made. A spectacle beloved by Raleighites of all ages, it is especially well known for the lively traditional dancing.

  • 10th Annual Festival of Legends – 2908 Optimist Farm Road, Apex, NC 27539
    The 10th Annual Festival of Legends runs between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Optimist Club Farm on Saturday, April 22, plus a shorter day on April 23. It's all free for children 12 and under, who are sure to marvel at this display of mythical beasts, acrobats, and magic. The food fest is scheduled for Sunday, July 4, from noon - 10 p.m., and admission is free.

  • Club Fair - Women's Club of Raleigh, 3300 Women's Club Dr., Raleigh, NC 27612
    Club Fair is so popular that it was decided once a year just isn't enough. On the last Sunday of the month, from May through September, the Women's Club of Raleigh hosts the festival of art, food, and music. The family-friendly event includes plenty of activities for the little ones. Hours are 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and admission is free.

  • GalaxyCon Raleigh - Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh, NC 27601
    Comic books aren't just for kids anymore. Fans of all ages will be gathering at GalaxyCon Raleigh, held downtown at the Convention Center. This year's impressive lineup of celebrity guests includes director Kevin Smith and the cast of Clerks, Tom Welling of Smallville, Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica, and the iconic William Shatner. Our real estate agents always suggest taking a walk around downtown Durham, as it's an excellent way to see everything this beautiful city has to offer. Durham isn't too large, so you won't get too overwhelmed. You can see so many facets of this city in just a couple of hours. Here are a few attractions you should make sure to include on your walking tour:

  • Stop By Central Park
    Start your day with a stop by The Pavilion at Durham's Central Park, where you'll find one of the best farmers markets in the area. More than 50 vendors can be found there serving fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, flowers, art, knick-knacks, and more. The market is every Saturday morning in the spring, summer, and fall. After shopping, take a rest on The Great Lawn or have a peaceful stroll through the nearby Butterfly Garden and Nature Trail. 

  • Explore Rigsbee Avenue
    One of the best things about Rigsbee Avenue is it provides some great views of the Durham skyline. There is also tons of green space, so it's an excellent destination to relax in the sun. While you're nearby, check out the Durham Bulls stadium. There are also several great restaurants around Rigsbee, not to mention some spectacular Durham homes for sale.

  • Check Out The American Tobacco Campus
    The former headquarters of the Lucky Strike has been transformed into a great downtown destination with shops, restaurants, and theater space sprawled over 1 million square feet. It's easy to spend a whole day at The American Tobacco Campus. There is also tons of Instagramable-local art, and the space even hosts free live concerts on the lawn during the summer. 

  • Visit The Museum Of Durham History
    If you aren't familiar with Durham's history, a stop by this local museum might be worthwhile. The Museum of Durham History offers rotating exhibits which tell the story of the city's beginnings, economy, politics, and sports. Best of all, admission is free. The museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday and 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday.

  • Take A Selfie With "Major"
    "Major" is the city's 10-foot-tall bronze bull statue, which is located at a plaza on W Parrish Street. The bull is a great public art piece and looks spectacular in the evening when the city lights reflect off of the bronze. The bull symbolizes the strong nature of the city of Durham and its residents.

  • Shop At Brightleaf Square
    This quaint, walkable section of town offers a variety of locally-owned retailers, so it's a great place to shop and support Durham's economy. You'll find plenty of gift shops and many opportunities for outdoor dining when the weather permits.

  • Catch A Show At The Carolina Theater
    If you're ready for a break, catch a show at The Carolina Theater. Not only is it an excellent entertainment venue, but the building is also one of the most beautiful in Durham and has a rich history. There is also an outdoor amphitheater, which hosts performances in the spring and summer.

    The Silent Film Celebration is an ongoing summer event lasting from May 25 - August 25th, 2021. It's being held in the Gredd Museum of Art & Design on the NCSU campus. Visit any time between 10 am and 5 pm. Admission is free.

    This play is set in the Swiss Alps. It tells the story of a crime literature buff named Patricia Highsmith. One day, an international visitor arrives at her home, and she becomes immersed in her very own murder mystery. The show is directed by Lynda Clark, who also plays the main character.

  • Yoga and Mimosas: 610 and 613 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27603
    What could be better than sipping a mimosa mid-day? Sipping a mimosa while doing yoga, of course. Yoga & Mimosas is being held every Saturday at Dogwood Bar & Eatery. Oak City Yoga is providing the instruction. The class runs from 11 am-noon, and admission is $13 per person.

    This is a lovely way to ease your way into the weekend while also getting a little exercise. The class is open to all ability levels; you don't need to be a super-flexible yogi to attend and have a great time.

Stages are positioned throughout the festival area in Bond Park, so you'll never be far from another great show.

The Spring Daze festival is a great event for kids, too, with a special Children's Village area designed specifically for younger members of the audience. There will be opportunities to plant trees, play interactive games, enjoy face painting, create art, and make new friends at the Children's Village.

Spring has arrived in North Carolina, and our locals are ready to celebrate family, community, and fun at some of the most popular festivals the Triangle has to offer.

When we asked Our REALTORS® about their favorite spring events, the list was pretty long. Whether you're into food, music, science, or culture, something is going on that's sure to appeal to you. Check out these nine festivals, and you'll get a taste of what makes the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area a great place to live. 

  1. Dreamville Festival: Raleigh, April 6
    The multi-stage musical event Dreamville Festival is coming back to Raleigh on April 6th. This celebration of art, food, and local culture feature both well-known and up-and-coming musical artists curated by J. Cole. It's held in the 308-acre Dorothea Dix Park and promises to be one of this year's most popular events.

  2. Got to Be NC Fest: Raleigh, May 17 - 19
    Gather up your family and friends and plan to spend some time at the 3-day Got to Be NC festival. This event offers carnival rides and games, pony rides, a selection of food from local vendors, shopping, and the ever-popular Masonic Carolina Pig Jig. The festival is held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds and entrance on May 17 - 19.  

  3. Raleigh International Food Festival, June 8
    If there was ever a good excuse to take a break from looking at Raleigh homes for sale, the Raleigh International Food Festival is it. This event, held at City Plaza on Saturday, June 8, draws over 17,000 people and celebrates cultural diversity with international food, beer, and wine from around the world, and a variety of musical and dance performances.

  4. Durham Earth Day Festival, April 28
    Celebrate taking care of Mother Earth at the free Durham Earth Day Festival on April 28th. You'll enjoy shopping at the Earth Day market, challenging yourself on the rock climbing wall, and taking the little ones to the Family Fun Zone. You also won't want to miss the Earth Day Parade. On your way home, we suggest taking the scenic route so you can get a look at some of the great Durham homes for sale.

  5. Moogfest: Durham, April 25 - 28
    A popular area event since 2004, Moogfest brings together music, art, and technology, in a one-of-a-kind celebration. The festival runs from April 25th through 28th. It features conferences during the day and cutting-edge electronic, pop, and avant-garde performances at night.

  6. Festival of Life: Durham, June 8 - 9
    Celebrate health and wellness and support your local vendors during the two-day Festival of Life at the Durham Amory. The event is on Saturday, June 8th and Sunday, June 9th. Shop until you drop then stick around for a Tarot card reading while your kids play in the giant game area. 

  7. Near and Far: Chapel Hill, April 28
    A lively street party featuring international food, dance, and music, Near and Far is one of the Chapel Hil's best cultural events. It's held in downtown Chapel Hill on April 28th from 1 to 4 p.m. 

  8. UNC Science Expo: Chapel Hill, April 14
    The UNC Science Expo is a fun-filled day that draws close to 10,000 participants. Kids and adults will both love the lab tours, science challenges, and over 100 hands-on activity booths. This free event is held on April 14th from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and does not require pre-registration. Many of the best Chapel Hill homes for sale are near the UNC campus, so we suggest taking a look around at some of the great neighborhoods while you're in the area.  
  1. Plastic-Free Eggstravaganza: Chapel Hill, April 14
    Gather up the family on April 14th and head over the first-ever Plastic-Free Eggstravaganza. Enjoy hunting for wooden eggs, then participate in STEAM events, games, and arts and crafts. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m., and admission and parking are both free.
